Did They Say That? Root of All Money?

October 28, 2008

“So you think that money is the root of all evil. Have you ever asked what is the root of all money?”

Ayn Rand

Remember that the love of money is the root of all evil, not money! But what is the root of all money, anyway?

This is very good sound advice! I also found a lot of money saving budget tips here http://godsmoney.com/?page_id=58

The root of getting money in a “capitalist” society is creation, hence the phrase “make money.” Plumbers, electricians, barbers — all ove these individuals create on some level in order to be compensated. They give and hence they get.

The actual pieces of paper that we /call/ money is founded on a simple covenant. It’s a covenant that a person has that represents a certain “value” of creation. No one can create all that he needs in a civilized society, so he must barter with others and trade.

Trade and money are based on contracts and covenants.

For example, if you have a $10 bill, then you have contracted with society that you have somehow earned about an hour’s worth of construction work, about 2 minutes with a lawyer or about one haircut.

So, the reason money isn’t evil is because it reflects labor, creation and achievement. That’s all it is, if anything.

    🙂
