Verse of the Day: Provide for Your Own

April 9, 2007

8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Timothy 5:8 (NKJV)

It is our responsibility to provide for our families and our children. The Bible is very clear about this in this verse. We become “worse than an unbeliever” when we don’t provide financially, physically, spiritually, and emotionally for our family. That’s pretty bad when the Bible calls us “worse than an unbeliever”. What does that mean? Unbelievers will sleep around, have kids and won’t pay child support. Unbelievers will abuse their children physically, verbally, or even sexually. Many parents aren’t even there for their children and put them up for adoption and those children never know their biological parents. Still others simply abandon their children.

Remember, the Bible mandates that we provide for our own. Remember to support your children and families in every way possible so that we are not called “worse than an unbeliever”.
