Verse of the Day
February 17, 2007
Here’s today’s verse of the day:
24“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)
This verse is in the same chapter as yesterday’s Verse of the Day and talks about the priorities again. In this verse mammon refers to wealth, money, or property. No one can serve two masters because a time will come when they make opposing demands. Jesus advises us to invest in our future with Him by giving of ourselves; mammon encourages us to collect material objects for our present emjoyment.
These are two very conflicting goals. Which will you choose? The temptation is there to pursue worldly riches but will it really fulfill you in the end. The Bible puts it in perspective. The Bible definitely has a lot to say on finances and money!
